A housewife murdered her two daughters by hanging them and ended her life in similar fashion in their house at Nagarjunanagar colony of Kushaiguda on Friday, the police said.

The bodies of 10-month-old Deekshita, two-and-half-a-year-old Nikita and their mother, Chaitanya, 26, were found in their portion by the house owner around 10 a.m.

Reason unknown

What drove the woman to resort to the extreme step was not yet known, the Kushaiguda Inspector, V. Sreekanth Goud, said.

Her husband, Srinivas, works as helper with a bore-well machine operator. His parents too work under a contractor as labourers.

After the three went out for work, Ms. Chaitanya bolted the door from inside.

She hanged the younger child to the window rods with a sari and the elder one to the ceiling hook with another sari, the Inspector. Later, the woman hanged herself to the ceiling hook in the front room.

No suicide note

The house owner felt something was fishy as she didn't respond to calls to collect drinking water. He broke open the doors only to find the three dead bodies hanging. No suicide note was found in the house.
