Old woman, grandson crushed to death under car wheels

A sexagenarian and her 15-month-old grandson, who were sleeping under the shade of a building under construction, were killed when a driver reversed the car failing to notice them, at Petbasheerabad on Tuesday.

Gangamma, 75, and her daughter's son, Sravan Kumar, were sleeping on the floor of the building when the driver reversed the car to park it under the shade around 9.30 a.m. in Dhulapally village.

They were rushed to a private hospital. While the boy died after a couple of hours, his grandmother died in the evening while undergoing treatment. The car belonged to ex-sarpanch. Gangamma's daughter works in the ex-sarpanch's house as maid.
