Mohd. Irfan suspected that his nephew's father, Feroz Ahmed, was responsible for the disappearance of his daughter
A hotel worker, who allegedly abducted his 11-year-old nephew and murdered him after torturing him for over three months, finally landed behind the bars in Mirchowk on Tuesday.
The accused, Mohd. Irfan, 36, suspected that his nephew Iqbal's father, Feroz Ahmed, was responsible for the disappearance of his elder daughter, Rukhsar, 11, who went missing two years ago. In January, 2012, he went to Mau in Uttar Pradesh from where Ahmed hailed, abducted Iqbal and brought him to Hyderabad.
“If you find and trace my daughter only, I will release your son. Till such time, he will be in my custody,” he allegedly told Ahmed who was so scared that he didn't even approach the police. Irfan too is from UP but settled in old city a few years ago.
He used to live in one of the 20 rented portions of a house in Guruvannagalli of Panjesha in Mirchowk with his wife and two daughters. Ahmed too resided in the nearby locality then with his family. In 2010, Rukhsar went missing and her father suspected that Ahmed was behind it.
He lodged a complaint with the local police. Despite searches for several months, the girl could not be traced. Unable to bear allegations and harassment of Irfan, Ahmed shifted to his village in UP with the family.
In January, 2012, Irfan went to Mau in UP, kidnapped the boy and brought him to his house, the Mirchowk Inspector, S. Venkat Reddy, said.
The hotel worker allegedly chained his nephew. He used to beat up the boy whenever the latter cried remembering his parents. “He even gagged the boy. On April 9, he hit on the boy's head with a screw driver when he began weeping for his parents. Death was instant for Iqbal,” the Inspector said.
Irfan later locked the house and fled with his family. After going to UP, he called up the house owner and told him about the murder he had committed. Since then, the police were looking out for him and caught him on a tip-off on Tuesday.
