Chat Nagarjuna moves into a new zone with ‘Rajanna' and shares his journey with Sangeetha Devi Dundoo
l Rajanna is set in the time when India won its independence. Rajanna (a character inspired by poet Suddala Hanumanthu), who along with his friends fights for the nation's freedom from British rule, returns to his village, Nelakondapalli, and discovers that freedom is a far cry for this hamlet, which is in the grip of razakkars. Rajanna sings his way into the hearts of people, and stirs a revolution with his inspiring lyrics.
l The story is about 10-year-old Mallamma as it is about Rajanna. Mallamma is so drawn to music that she invites the wrath of the village head. She embarks on a journey to New Delhi to meet Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and apprise him of the plight of her village. She discovers that she is the daughter of Rajanna, whose inspirational story motivates her to continue her fight.
l Written and directed by Vijayendra Prasad, Rajanna has on board his son and director S.S. Rajamouli (who has helmed stunt sequences) and Rama Rajamouli designing the costumes.
l M.M. Keeravani's music serves as a backbone to this story that's propelled by music.
