General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub-Area, Major General N. Srinivas Rao on Wednesday expressed concern that the areas of Secunderabad Cantonment, Golconda, Mehdipatnam and Bowenpally are “open and porous” with large civilian population around them.

Security issues

Having major roads and highways closer to the Cantonment has further compounded the security issues, he observed at a security convergence meeting held with top police officials, including Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy, Additional DGP Jitender, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and others at the Secunderabad Military Station.

The meeting discussed several external and internal security issues and also reviewed the preparedness for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief with the NSG, Octopus and Greyhounds presenting power point presentation of their respective activities.

The DGP invited armed forces to have their representative at the Integrated Command Control Centre coming up at Road No.12, Banjara Hills for better coordination.

Convergence activities between the Armed Forces and Police were very important to develop rapport between officials and be prepared to face any contingencies effectively, said Mr. Reddy. Commandants of all military and Air Force establishments in the city also attended the programme, a press release said.
