TSIIC Managing Director, however, denies any such move

: YSR Congress MP from Araku, Kothapalli Geetha has decided to approach the Supreme Court against the Telangana government’s decision to take possession of 53 acres of land at Rayadurgam in Serilingampally which belonged to the industrial establishment in which she was a shareholder.

She said the Telangana government had taken over the land in spite of the stay granted by the High Court which reflected the respect it gave to the judiciary. “Officials of Revenue and Police departments conducted a joint operation to take possession of the land in spite of the High Court staying the process.

We will approach the apex Court against the action of the TS government,” the MP said.

In addition, the matter had been represented to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singjh and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan who promised that they would examine the issue and take appropriate action.

“I am firm on raising the issue at the national level,” she said.

Ms. Geetha said the manner in which a member of Parliament could be put to inconvenience by the officials reflected that the TRS government was unable to control its officers. The officials concerned put up board that the land belonged to the TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.

“When an MP can be put to inconvenience in spite of clear titles and ownership of the land, I can imagine the plight of the common man,” she said. She said the land belonging to several other people was also taken over by the government, but these people remained tight-lipped as they were afraid of the government.

‘Enforce Section 8 to protect investors’

She demanded that the government enforce Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act giving powers of revenue and other subjects to the Governor. “The section should be strictly enforced in the interests of the people from other States who invested here,” she said.

TSIIC MD Venkata Narasimha Reddy, however, said the corporation would not take over private lands.

He told The Hindu that the TSIIC was just putting up fence around its own land.
