Holds immense potential: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav at the AquaEx India -2018 in the city on Thursday.

The government is planning to expand fish markets in the districts so that they are sold in hygienic conditions, Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav said while inaugurating the AquaEx-2018 on Thursday evening.

Mr. Yadav, giving a pep talk to assembled fishermen and fish breeders from various districts, said that currently, many fish markets were located beside nalas and other unhygienic places. “This has to change. Who would have thought of shrimp farming in Telangana. But we are now doing it. Aquaculture holds great scope in Telangana as we have a large number of water bodies in the State,” he said.

The Minister also advised people to set aside differences of caste and community. “Do not let petty quarrels disrupt your path to economic progress,” he stated.

The three-day event is being organised by the Society for Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture for the first time in the city. Aimed at boosting aquaculture in the State, the expo is showcasing best practices as well as technical know-how from across the world.
