The state-run corporation has sought parcels of land in 11 different parts to set up bus depots and another 20 others for bus station facilities
To address the growing demands of public transportation in the city which is spreading out in all directions, plans are afoot to create appropriate new bases for bus and train services in the new and emerging areas.
To shore up its services, the APSRTC has sought parcels of land in 11 different parts to set up bus depots and another 20 spaces for bus station facilities. The new RTC infrastructure has been proposed in different mandals around the city core and includes locations such as Hayatnagar, Maheshwaram, Patancheru, Shamirpet and Qutbullahpur. The locations have been identified and a request for appropriate land has been made.
This was one of the major issues before the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority which met here under Chief Secretary Minnie Mathews recently. Discussions on the issue followed with a decision on recommending the matter of handing over required land parcels for the RTC to the district Collectors concerned.
SCR too on the job
On the railway infrastructure front, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has earmarked spaces for passenger and freight terminals. The SCR which has identified these locations has to take care of technical feasibility and follow it with designing the terminals and commence land acquisition within 3 years.
The SCR passenger terminals have been identified at Manoharabad and Edulnagulpalli near Shankerpally while the freight terminal has been proposed at Ravulapalli and passenger-cum-freight terminals at Timmapur and Bhongiri.
