The police have registered a case following a complaint lodged by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) about the allegations over the role of a woman who sought bribe to ensure lecturer jobs in Government Polytechnic Colleges.
The APPSC had lodged a complaint on Wednesday when a Telugu television news channel telecast a sting operation which showed a woman claiming to have high-level connections with a member of the Commission.
APPSC Chairman C. R. Biswal, who met Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday to apprise him of the development, told The Hindu that they had lodged a police complaint to know the truth and if the woman in question really had any links with an APPSC member as claimed by her.
Senior police officials were inquiring the issue and basedon their preliminary report, action would be taken, Mr. Biswal said. The scheduled interviews for the polytechnic lecturer posts were postponed indefinitely in the wake of news channel report.
“The commission will wait for the police to complete their inquiry,”he said.
