Appoint regular NIMS Director: HC tells State

Justice Nooty Rama Mohana Rao of the A.P. High Court on Monday expressed deep anguish at the state of affairs prevailing in the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and asked the government to appoint a regular Director.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Dr. Balaram who challenged the appointment of Dharma Rakshak as Director of NIMS alleging violation of rules.

It may be recalled that the judge last week asked the government why a search committee was not appointed for the selection of new Director. Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Ratna Kishore appeared before the court and sought time to complete the process of appointment of Director.

The Judge directed the Advocate General to inform the court within 10 days, steps taken for the appointment.
