Apology sought from Osmania University Vice-Chancellor

December 26, 2012 03:09 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:00 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Osmania University Teachers’ Association (OUTA) on Tuesday demanded an unconditional apology from the University Vice-Chancellor for the recent incident in which a Professor was attacked by students.

In a press release on Tuesday, OUTA members said that it was the moral responsibility of the V-C to apologise because the incident had occurred in the chambers of the V-C.

“The V-C should apologise to the teaching community to generate confidence among them. Otherwise, the morale of the faculty will be weakened further. But, instead of protecting the teachers, the V-C is blaming OUTA. The incident took place in the chambers of the V-C and that’s why the V-C should tender an unconditional apology,” OUTA president, Professor B. Satyanarayana said.

The OUTA members clarified that the teachers’ body would not come in the way of the Ph.D admissions. “The OUTA also requested the V-C to set up a committee consisting of senior Professors to look into such disputes in future. The teachers’ body is concerned about the safety, security, dignity of teachers and the University’s image,” OUTA president said.
