A super-speciality hospital of the Apollo Group, a 200-bed facility with state-of-art cathlab and offering care in over 30 disciplines, including specialised treatment for uncontrolled blood pressure and prostate enlargement was launched at Hyderguda in the city on Sunday.

With the addition of the new facility, 53rd for the Group, the bed strength in various hospitals has crossed 9,000, says Sangita Reddy, executive director for Apollo Hospitals Group at a news conference here. It was expected to touch 9,400 by the end of the year as two more hospitals, including one at Trichy, would be inaugurated by then.

She announced that patients who were registered earlier with another facility of the Apollo group, and at Hyderguda, would get 10 per cent discount on all diagnostic tests at the new hospital.

Dr. Mohammed Rafi, head of the centre for treating blood pressure, said the concept of blood pressure disorders management was being offered by very few hospitals. Chief of urology, Dr. Rajagopal said the green light laser treatment would enable performing surgery of prostate without loss of blood.

Pointing out that most of the elderly patients with prostate problem would be on anti-coagulants and blood-thinners, he said the new equipment would be of great help in treating them.

The other disciplines in which the hospital offers care include cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, nephrology, and orthopaedics.
