The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has denied reports in a section of the media that K. Chiranjeevi, Congress MP and party’s campaign committee chairman for Seemandhra in the recent elections, is quitting the party.
Official spokesperson of APCC R. Padmaraju rubbished the reports about the possibility of Mr. Chiranjeevi planning to join BJP in the changed political scenario, particularly after his younger brother Pawan Kalyan’s successful campaign for BJP-TDP combine. He termed the reports mere speculation and said the president of erstwhile Praja Rajyam Party had merged his party with the Congress only to work for the latter.
Mr. Chiranjeevi had carried out campaign for the party in Seemandhra with great responsibility in the adverse political conditions, the APCC leader said. He requested the Centre to come to the rescue of farmers who were put to loss by the recent untimely rains in which their harvested and standing crops were damaged.
