A division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sen Gupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar on Monday was informed that the governments of AP and Telangana cleared all the files pertaining to granting of permission to prosecute the errant officers who were found to have been involved in liquor scam.

The ACB informed the Bench that except in the case of a police officer of Telangana and forest officer of AP, all other files have been cleared. The bench was dealing with cases filed by O.M. Debara and others complaining that the governments are shielding the errant officers of Excise Department in spite of evidence against them.

The bench had directed both governments to grant final permission as per law and asked the ACB to file status report. On Monday, the ACB told the court that action has been granted in cases pertaining to liquor scam. The Bench granted one more week for both the governments to grant final permission to prosecute as per law and report back.
