The government has imposed a ban on sale of school bags, shoes etc., in the schools in the State under the Right to Education Act.

V. Usha Rani, Project Director, Rajiv Vidya Mission, said the ban would be implemented with immediate effect.

The Project Director said she had come across such sales during her visits to different schools in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. “No commercial activity could be undertaken in the schools,” she warned.

She said in a press release on Saturday that a ban had also been imposed on conduct of screening tests for admissions, and on collection of fee higher than prescribed, and collection of computer fee, transport fee, sports fee etc.

Severe action would be taken against offenders in this respect, she added.
