‘There is little scope for fraud in the system’

Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali clarified that the facility for registration of land from anywhere in the State was not being misused by registering property without verification and said the concerned registrar was being informed in advance.

Hassle-free registration

Replying to a question, he said ‘registration from anywhere’ was introduced by the previous government in the combined Andhra Pradesh State to register land in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts by fraudulent means, and added that registration of land was confined to registrar offices within the district and this was to ensure hassle-free registration. There was little scope for fraud as the information was passed on to the concerned officials in other registrar offices two days before the registration date to keep them informed.

He said 28,90,738 registrations were done after the formation of Telangana, of which 3,52,758 were done from places other than where the land was actually located. The ‘May I Help You’ counters were receiving positive response with the officials explaining complex documents to the common man. Earlier, BJP MLA K. Laxman questioned as to why the State Finance Commission was not constituted as mandated by the 73rd Amendment to the Constitution to oversee the financial extension to local bodies and their spending. He said the government was not providing any funds to village sarpanches and local body representatives. G. Kishan Reddy said the government has lost connectivity with the sarpanches and they were being made to depend on the government for everything.
