Minister for Infrastructure and Investment Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Thursday said the A.K. Antony Committee should visit the districts to understand the groundswell of support for Samaikyandhra instead of accepting representations in support and against bifurcation in New Delhi and Hyderabad.

He was speaking to repo-rters after unveiling Telugu Talli statue at Maddilapalem junction here.

“The people are our high command and the Congress leadership should reconsider its decision in recognition of growing support for Samaikyandhra,” he said.

The minister, who had announced his resignation protesting the decision to divide the State, said his decision to quit the Cabinet was final.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the agitation by the integrationists would be intensified further if the Congress high command did not reverse its decision. He said some MLAs, MLCs, MPs and Ministers had already quit their posts and in the coming days more would follow suit.

need to come forward the elected representatives of rayalaseema and coastal andhra regions of andhra pradesh to assembly and parlia ment and feel the pulse of the people of the region for samakhya andhra and put forward the opinions in the forums of discussions - agitations for samakhya andhra intensifying with every passing hour and the pandora box containing the reorganisation of linguistically curved states must be closed - since its openning has ramifications of untold political upheavels in the states of west bengal and assam - all political leaders cutting across party lines in the rayalaseema and coastal andhra regions of andhra pradesh must come forward and save the state of andhra pradesh - with all sections of population on the streets of villages - towns and cities appealing for samakhya andhra for the reasons to lead a peaceful life for now and for comming generations - opinions differ
