The district education authorities in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy (RR) seized answer sheets of the talent exam conducted by city-based FIITJEE schools for classes VI, VII and VIII on Sunday for violating the Right to Education Act rules.
As per rules, conducting talent search examinations is not permitted, yet the school management conducted talent search examinations for short-listing students for admissions into different classes. Hence, the answer sheets were seized, Hyderabad District Education Officer A. Subba Reddy said.
FIITJEE conducted examinations for selecting students for all classes, including sixth, seventh and eighth classes on Sunday. “We will be taking a decision on Monday about booking cases against the management,” RR District Education Officer Som Reddy said.
The school had conducted the talent search examination at seven centres, including three in Hyderabad and four in RR District. “Since the examination was in progress in six centres, we seized answer sheets after the examinations were over to avoid law and order problem,” he said. Examination for classes IX to XI were however not stopped by the officials, as it is permitted under the rules. Officials acted on the complaints lodged by Balala Hakkula Sangham.
