January 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:33 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The late Dr. K. Anji Reddy’s memoir, ‘An Unfinished Agenda’ will inspire generations to come, work for drug discovery research and make medicines available at affordable prices, said founder & managing director of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, Dilip Shanghvi.

Addressing an impressive gathering after releasing the memoir, he said Dr. Anji Reddy shared what he wished for India and for the industry – right from 1973, when he founded Uniloids that made the drug Metronidazole, Standard Organics Limited and later, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. “His investments on innovation, in research and development and those that he made in the USA set the trend in the sector,” Mr. Shanghvi said, adding that he knew much about Dr. Reddy, thanks to his long association with him. “However, there is one facet about him that I do not know much about because I was too busy with my own business and that is his philanthropy, being ever-ready to help people and corporate social responsibility,” he admitted. Others who spoke included his son Satish Reddy and G.V. Prasad who are chairman and CEO of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories respectively and president of the Public Health Foundation of India and cardiologist Dr. Srinath Reddy.
