Anil Punetha takes over as ANGRAU in-charge VC

HYDERABAD:

Anil Chandra Punetha, Principal Secretary, Agriculture has been appointed as the in charge Vice-Chancellor of Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Hyderabad.

V. Nagi Reddy, who was the incharge Vice Chancellor in his capacity as the Principal Secretary, Agriculture, was recently transferred to Panchayat Raj Department and Mr. Punetha was posted in his place.

The university has been functioning without a Vice Chancellor for the last two years and the recent appointment of a senior scientist Alluri Padma Raju as the VC landed up in the courts. His appointment was opposed by the Telangana activists as he hails from the coastal Andhra region. The State Government faced embarrassed moment in his appointment with the Governor, E.S.L. Narasimhan signing the orders and later Government realising that the appointment was challenged in the court on technical grounds.
