In tune with upcoming festivals, a Ganesh and Kolu Darshan exhibition is being organised by Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited also known as Poompuhar. The exhibition was unveiled by Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy here Friday.
Bronze and rosewood dominated the wares on display. Be it Ganesha idols in bronze or dining table set (Rs.1.53 lakh) and wooden swing (Rs.2.25 lakh); both made of rosewood, the exhibition had a wide collection of handicrafts. What caught one's eyes were the Ganesha idols in different avatars.
From the huge rosewood idol (Rs.1.75 lakh) right at the entrance to the dancing, veera, sakthi, moolathara, umbrella, musical, sayana and raja Ganapthis, the exhibition is a delight for the Ganesha devotee. It also has Kolu dolls sets.
These apart, from panchaloga lamps, brass oil lamps, Thanjavur art plates, Tanjore paintings to wooden carvings, jute products, pottery, papier machie, stone carvings, jewellery, palm leaf, leather and incense products the exhibition had something for everyone.
The organisers are offering a discount of 10 per cent on all the wares at the exhibition. It will be on till September 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday.
