The Environment and Forests Department of Telangana on Saturday issued notification as part of the process of declaring Ameenpur lake in Patancheru mandal of Medak district a ‘biodiversity heritage site’ under the Biodiversity Act, 2002.
Secretary (Environment & Forests) Vikas Raj said that the lake has been declared a biodiversity heritage site by the government, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 37(1) of the Biodiversity Act, 2002 read with Rule 21 (1) of Telangana State Biodiversity Rules, 2015.
The notification would be published in the extraordinary issue of the Telangana Gazette.
Objections and suggestions should be informed through the website www.tsbiodiversity.org and after receipt of such objections/suggestions, a public hearing would be held at Ameenpur Gram Panchayat Office. The detailed report and formats for filing the suggestions are available on the website and at office of the Telangana State Biodiversity Board.
