All CII Centres of Excellence to have branches in Vijayawada

February 24, 2015 05:20 pm | Updated 05:33 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will establish a Centre of Excellence for Entrepreneurship in Vijayawada soon. Each one of its Centres of Excellence will eventually have a branch in the CII’s new office coming up in the city, said CII A.P Chairman and Srinivasa Hatcheries Private Ltd. Vice-Chairman Suresh Chitturi.

Addressing a public session on ‘Enterprise growth: Taking your business to greater heights’ here on Tuesday, Mr. Suresh said the CII was keen on promoting entrepreneurship in Andhra Pradesh which has tremendous opportunities to be tapped by upcoming businessmen and women.

As part of its endeavour to groom future business leaders, CII has resolved to expand its activities in the State and the Centres of Excellence were a part of it. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has promised to extend necessary support to the CII’s plans and things would start a tangible shape in the near future.

On the scaling of businesses, Mr. Suresh said political stability at the Centre and in the State gave an impetus to business environment in the State. The entrepreneurs need to think how best to cater to their clients’ requirements. “Reaching the desired scale of your business is possible only by removing inefficiencies from time to time and adapting to changes”, Mr. Suresh asserted.

CII A.P Past Chairman and ADP India Private Ltd. Managing Director Shakti Sagar stressed the need for entrepreneurs to get out of ‘defensive thinking’ which, he said, was the ‘trait of a pessimist’. “Businesses have to adapt to the rapid changes taking place all around.

“For instance, Xerox and Kodak, which were household names around the world, conceded their leadership positions to their competitors having failed to read the writing on the wall which was very clear”, he observed.

“Indian economy is definitely capable of surpassing that of China by 2016 with a GDP growth rate of six per cent. But, that is possible when the human capital is used optimally and the immense potential of convergence of technologies, like the Internet of Things, is tapped”, Mr. Sagar added.

CII Vijayawada Zone Chairman V.V.M. Krishna, KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation CEO G. Venkateswara Rao and Sujay Biotech Private Ltd. MD M. Lakshmi Prasad were among those present.
