An Air India flight bound for New Delhi from Chennai made an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Sunday afternoon after a passenger developed health problems.

Jaswanth Singh (50) of Raipur in Chhattisgarh complained of uneasiness, and immediately the on-board doctor examined him and alerted the pilot about passenger’s condition. After taking permission from the Air Traffic Control at RGIA, the AI-430 flight made an emergency landing. The authorities rushed the passenger to a corporate hospital on the airport premises where doctors declared him brought dead.

Officials said the passenger died of cardiac arrest and his family was informed of it.
