Agri varsity V-C on ICAR governing board

Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) Vice Chancellor Velchala Praveen Rao has been nominated Member, Governing Board of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), an apex body guiding the agricultural education and research policy in the country for three years.

Mr. Rao, recognised for his research on micro irrigation, is a well-known agronomist by profession. With his exposure as an international micro irrigation consultant in over 20 countries in his career, he conceived, formulated and operationalised a Special Purpose Vehicle Project – Andhra Pradesh Microirrigation Project (now operating as TSMIOP in Telangana).

Under his leadership the university was rated 3rd best agricultural university in South India and 12th best in the country.
