Taking a day off from the Big Boss Telugu reality show, actor Mumaith Khan appeared before the investigators in the drugs case here on Thursday.
She was among the 12 persons from the film industry who were served summons by the Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) for examination in the case. Ms. Khan was the eighth person questioned by the SIT sleuths so far and second woman after actor Charmee Kaur.
Attempts by a TV journalist to take her version about the summons at the airport did not yield results. Accompanied by two persons, she came out of the airport covering her head with a hood of her jacket and left in a vehicle.
She checked into a five-star hotel at Somajiguda. Around 10 a.m., she was driven to to the Abkari Bhavan—P&E office building—at Nampally. Four bouncers, her manager and a person connected to the reality show followed her in another vehicle. Though Ms. Khan’s appearance before the SIT was already announced by the latter, she reportedly did not want others to know her movements in the city. Even the bouncers were not informed that they were being hired for Ms. Khan.
“We were told that security was required for a heroine for an event being held at Nampally. That’s it,” the person with whom the bouncers work, said. Clad in a pair of skinny trousers and black full-sleeved jacket, the actress got off her vehicle and walked straight to the P&E office gate.
The man accompanying her was stopped near the staircase while three women constables ushered her upstairs. The interrogation was held for nearly seven hours. Ms. Khan came out of the office and rushed to her vehicle, not responding to the requests from mediapersons for comments. On Friday, actor Ravi Shankar Raju Bhupathiraju, popularly known as Ravi Teja, would appear before the SIT. His brother Bharath, who died in a road accident in the city recently, was arrested in a drugs case a few years ago.
