Advocates stage rasta roko

April 09, 2014 11:43 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 10:00 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Advocates under AP High Court Advocates Association staged a rasta roko in front of the High Court premises demanding recalling the recommendation made by the collegium for appointment of judges to the High Court .

Slogans were shouted against the procedure adopted. They demanded high level inquiry into the affair. It may be recalled that the general body of the association on Monday demanded that the recommendations be recalled forthwith. They had contended that when the popularly elected governments are not in Centre and the State and on the eve of formation of State of Telangana such a move is most unwarranted especially when the Telangana region is under represented. They wondered how the Governor can process the recommendation of the collegium. The general body had demanded that the proposed selection process for selection of Junior Civil Judges be also stalled and the notification be with drawn.
