The Congress has appealed to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to initiate action against the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the Satavahana University alleging that they violated all norms in appointing assistant professors and academic consultants.

Congress spokesperson Konagala Mahesh, who submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister here, said the information sought by him through the Right to Information (RTI) Act proved that not only the teachers were appointed against the norms but the university also failed to apply for UGC 12(b) status and recognition from the NAAC fearing exposure of their irregularities.

Mr. Mahesh said five people were recruited despite not possessing the requisite qualifications, including two assistant professors each in Economics, and Commerce and Business Management and one in Urdu department.
