Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday trapped a junior assistant A. Vasudeva Rao, working in Deputy Registrar’s Office here when he allegedly accepted Rs.16,000 as bribe.

The accused demanded Rs.20,000 from the representatives of an NGO, Nitya Jeevana, for renewal of registration of the organisation. However, he settled for Rs.16,000, said ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) V. Gopala Krishna.

Following a complaint, ACB inspectors Nagaraju, Srinivas and Venkateswarlu laid a trap and caught the junior assistant red-handed while taking the amount at his office. The accused would be produced in the ACB Court, the DSP added.
