Absconding businessman arrested in Mumbai

City police on Saturday arrested Kukkala Venkata Rama Vidya Sagar, who had been absconding for nearly past three years in a case of cheating involving ₹9.14 crore.

Owners of a private company M/s Gimpex lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police in 2014 alleging that Mr. Sagar of M/s V.M. Coalogix cheated them of ₹9.14 crore. A cheating case was registered against him.

The case was transferred to the Hyderabad Central Crime Station two months ago. A sub-inspector of CCS, S. Brahma Chary, who was assigned investigation of the case, made painstaking efforts to trace Mr. Sagar who had been absconding.

Finally, the SI caught Mr. Sagar in Mumbai. An amount of ₹4.5 lakh was seized from the accused.
