Scores of Adivasis participated in Dammakka Seva Yatra held in the temple town of Bhadrachalam on Sunday as a mark of tribute to Pokala Dammakka, a tribal woman of the bygone era known for her unflinching devotion to Lord Sitarama, the presiding deity of the historic temple, popularly known as Bhadradri.

Adivasis from far-flung areas of Bhadrachalam Agency offered special prayers at the shrine before participating in an impressive ceremonial procession organised by the Endowments Department in the honour of Dammakka.

The devotees, including women and children, offered a wide array of flowers and fruits to the presiding deity reinforcing their spiritual connection with the historic shrine.

Adivasi artistes performed during the procession with their traditional musical instruments extolling the virtues of Lord Sitarama and expressing their profound devotion to Him.

Sporting their traditional headgear, some youth hogged the limelight during the Seva Yatra. Bhadrachalam Assistant Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt and temple executive officer K. Prabhakara Srinivas were among those who took part in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhakara Srinivas said the Seva Yatra was organised to promote the age-old spiritual bond between the tribal devotees and the Bhadradri temple.
