Police personnel from the security wing trained in anti-sabotage check and bomb disposal checks and will be deployed as part of the beefed up security measures at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) which will host the second cricket Test match between India and Australia from March 2, according to Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Cyberabad Police Commissioner.
Central forces
“Anti-terror unit Octopus and AP Special Police paramilitary forces are also being deployed for smooth conduct of the match,” Mr. Rao informed the media at the Stadium after reviewing the security arrangements on Wednesday.
Mr. Rao said that in view of the recent twin-bomb blast in Dilsukhnagar, security measures will be on a high to ensure the safety of the players and the spectators during the five-day match.
“This 250-member force will take care of this crucial aspect along with 1100 drawn for the law and order bandobust,” he pointed out.
Traffic police
“There will be also about 170 traffic police on duty for smooth flow of the vehicles in the periphery of the stadium and also on all approach routes,” informed the top police official.
CCTV cameras
Mr. Rao also confirmed that CCTV cameras are installed all over the stadium. “Security has also been strengthened up at the Hotels and en route to the Stadium,” he said to a query.
“Mobiles, water bottles and bags of any kind will not be allowed into the stadium,” he emphasized.
