There cannot be a better example of official carelessness than this. The high-tension tower on Road No. 45 near monster.com office in Jubilee Hills is a glaring example of official apathy towards road accidents.
The tower occupies nearly half the road space on one side of the median and is located after a curve and slope while going from the junction at Road No. 45 towards Madhapur.
A concrete platform of over two-feet high was built around the tower base on the road. The concrete base not only blocks the footpath but is also a dangerous obstruction to motorists going towards Madhapur. Residents of the locality said the road was laid after the HT tower was installed.
“The authorities had the option to lay the road away from the HT tower. For some strange reason, they left it like that even as motorists crash into it and frequently get injured,” say people travelling in that route.
Since the road is curved and has a slope before reaching the tower; motorists tend to speed down towards the tower. Opposite the tower, too, the pavement is ‘blocked’ by two electric poles.
Two more steel poles are rooted on the road, posing a threat to motorists coming from the reverse direction of Madhapur to Junction 45 of Jubilee Hills. It is but one example of bad road engineering all over the capital that is leading to accidents, most of them fatal.
