A chance for Eamcet-II rankers to improve score

The number of Eamcet-III aspirants is likely to go down to some extent

August 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Eamcet-II rankers seem to be coming to grips with the reality of Eamcet-III, but their heart still aches that their efforts have gone waste.

While many see this as a huge burden that would keep them occupied for another month of toil, the positive thinkers seem to be seeing it as an opportunity to improve their ranks. The competition is likely to be less in Eamcet-III as all the top students either might have taken admission in AP medical colleges or would prefer national institutions with the NEET results to be out soon.

The number of Eamcet-III aspirants is likely to go down, if not significantly, to some extent. Even though the suspects still enjoy an opportunity to appear again legally, most of them may not take the test out of guilt. At the same time, the kind of stress one goes through during preparation may keep the non-serious guys out of competition quite early.

In fact, the number of aspirants from Eamcet-I to Eamcet-II had come down by nearly 50 per cent. In the first exam held on May 15, about 1.03 lakh students had applied while about 56,000 students applied for Eamcet-II . “Hundreds of students who feel they had lost out on good ranks due to minor mistakes should see an opportunity to improve rank and aim at a good college,” says a doctor, whose daughter is also a sufferer. Meanwhile, parents are worried over the huge penalty they have to pay if they cancel the seat already secured in AP medical colleges if they secure a better rank in Telangana. Such cancellation attracts Rs. 2 lakh in penalty.

Such situation can be avoided only if the Eamcet-III results are announced and admissions done before AP closes its admission schedule, which looks unlikely in the present circumstances. The only way out is to request the AP Government to postpone counselling and conduct it after Telangana releases its results. The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Vice Chancellor, B. Karunakar Reddy said they would make all efforts to ensure that students don’t suffer and the final counselling may not be completed in AP before Eamcet-III results of Telangana are out. The penalty norm was introduced to save seats going vacant as many students were leaving the colleges after final phase.
