Uninterrupted power for LI schemes on NSP left canal

The Telangana government has decided to supply round-the-clock power to all lift irrigation schemes drawing water from Nagarjunasagar left canal.

The decision was expected to allow flow of the water from the lift irrigation scheme till the tail-end ayacut. According to officials, about 84,000 acres was being irrigated under 38 lift irrigation schemes in Suryapet, Huzurnagar and Miryalaguda areas.

Although there are 42 lift irrigation schemes on Nagarjunasagar left canal, only 38 were functioning now. The decision to supply uninterrupted power was taken at a review meeting held by Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy at Suryapet on Sunday.
