There is good news for the people who are struggling with the frequent traffic snarls at the road junctions as the police has decided to reinstall the traffic signals at all the places.
For the smooth and easy flow of traffic Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy along with Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka and officials of R&B, Bharath Electricals and Traffic police on Thursday inspected the traffic junctions and islands for the re-installation of the signals in the town. The police in association with the MCK will install traffic signals at 17 places.
The Commissioner of Police said that the survey work would be completed very soon and that they would submit the proposals for the sanction of funds from the Government. They would install CCTV cameras also at all the junctions, which would be linked to the Police command control room to provide necessary guidance to the traffic police for the smooth flow of traffic, he added.
It may be recalled that then administrators had removed the traffic signals in the town as part of traffic islands under the “Mana Nagaram – Mana Karimnagaram” in 2012. During the period, the authorities had developed the islands with the contributions from the philanthropists and removed traffic islands and made narrow pathways around the junctions for the slow movement of vehicles.
