TRS continues diatribe against Kodandaram

June 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 11:30 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) continued its diatribe against Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram for the second day on Tuesday, even as the Opposition parties and other organisations rallied behind the latter supporting his demands for better governance.

Reiterating that formation of political JAC or TJAC was done with the sole objective of fighting for statehood to Telangana, Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy said all partners of the body, including parties and several other organisations, left it immediately after the goal was reached. Taking a strong exception to the reported remarks of Prof. Kodandaram asking Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao government to step down if it was not adept to fulfil the promises made to people, the Minister sought to know whether the professor was talking in senses or not.

“We are not here to step down as being asked by you. We are elected by people and will step down only after realising Bangaru Telangana and until then no force will stop us from marching towards the goal,” he asserted.

He suggested the TJAC chief to visit 28 States in the country and compare the welfare and development schemes being implemented by the Telangana Government.

He along with Deputy Chief Minister Md. Mahamood Ali sought to know which State Government in the country was spending about Rs.38,000 crore on welfare schemes and Rs.6,000 crore on improving health sector. “In two years, the government has put in best of its efforts to undo the injustice done to Telangana for six decades in combined Andhra Pradesh and it will surely take more time to render justice to all sections that were discriminated,” Mr. Narsimha Reddy explained.

Faulting Prof. Kodandaram for turning a blind eye to the work done by the Telangana Government in two years, the Home Minister said it appeared that the former had awaken from deep slumber and reciting the words of forces inimical to the development of Telangana. He suggested that the talk of lies and misinformation would not suit the stature of Prof. Kodandaram. The Minister termed the TJAC leader’s attack on the government as mindless and meaningless.
