State got ₹3,230 cr from HUDCO in current year: CMD

The public sector financial institution is extending support to Mission Bhagiratha

HYDERABAD: The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) has sanctioned loans to the tune of ₹3,230 crore during the current financial year so far for the Telangana State towards various developmental schemes, including purchase of buses by TS Road Transport Corporation, land acquisition for establishment of National Investment and Manufacturing Zone and weaker section housing programmes.

This forms part of the ₹31,168 crore projects sanctioned to the State by the Central public sector undertaking for infrastructure upgradation, including the social and economic infrastructure and shelter for poor.

Flagship programmes

In addition, HUDCO is extending its support to two flagship programmes of the Government Mission Bhagiratha and double bedroom housing scheme.

The HUDCO would provide ₹4,760 crore to Mission Bhagiratha and another ₹3,344 crore for two bedroom housing programme in addition to sanction of over ₹700 crore for pharmacity project, corporation chairman M. Ravi Kanth said.

A total of 8.44 lakh houses were built with HUDCO’s support so far in Telangana of which 96 per cent pertained to weaker section and low income group housing projects.

RTC buses

Dr. Ravi Kanth who was here on Friday said the corporation had given assistance to the tune of ₹425 crore to the TSRTC for purchase of 2,100 buses.

Dr. Ravi Kanth handed over sanction letter to TSRTC Chairman S. Satyanarayana for an amount of ₹1.34 crore under the corporate social responsibility activities enabling the corporation to set up LED lighting systems at Bus Bhavan and bus depots across the State for taking up energy conservation in a large way.

Replying to a query, he said the corporation had positively responded to the request of the State Government seeking assistance of ₹5,000 crore, including ₹3,000 crore for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for upgrading civic infrastructure works like white topping of roads in the urban areas.

“The State Government is yet to formulate a comprehensive scheme in this regard,” he said.
