Members of the All-India Lawyers Association suggested the villagers under Mallannasagar to request for compensation under ‘The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in and Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act – 2013’ and there are chances of judiciary responding positively for that.

“You can implead before the court seeking compensation under LA Act - 2013. We feel that many of the villagers were forced to sign documents under coercion from different sections. We have explained them about the interim orders issued by the High Court on GO. 123,” vice-president All India Lawyers Association K. Pardha Saradhi told The Hindu after the visit.

The team consisting of 10 members, including B. C. S. Azad, Praveen, Madhava Reddy and Srinivas, visited Vemulaghat and Pallepahad in Toguta mandal and Erravalli and Singaram in Kondapaka mandal on Friday and interacted with several villagers. They said that the lands rates have to be revised as per market rate and then the compensation calculated at three times the market price to be paid to farmers when the land was acquired under LA Act -2013 and hence they were suggested to request for compensation under it. The advocates team also stated that those who had already sold their lands under GO 123 to the government can also approach the court for right compensation as the High Court stated that it would decide the fate of the lands that were already purchase by the government at a later stage.

“We have suggested the villagers to write post cards to President of India Pranab Mukherjee not to give assent to the Land Acquisition Act – 2016, which was recently passed in the Assembly. It is a draconian Act which will waive of rights of farmers completely,” said Mr. Pardha Saradhi adding that farmers getting prepared to write letters to the President.
