RTC and SCR specials for Sankranti

Major public transport undertakings, including the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and South Central Railway (SCR), are gearing up to handle the rush of passengers proceeding to different destinations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“We have our plans set and are ready to run at least 2,450 special buses at one-and-a-half times the normal fare between January 8 and 13,” said TSRTC Managing Director G.V. Ramana Rao. “Teams comprising a few hundred officials will be at different points across the twin cities with 25 senior officers monitoring operations continuously,” he added.

Apart from the Mahatma Gandhi and Jubilee Bus Stations, the buses will leave from BHEL, Chandanagar, KPHB, Sanjiva Reddy Nagar, L.B. Nagar, Uppal, Tarnaka, Dilsukhnagar, Bowenpally and CBS Hangar, Mr. Rao said.

As for SCR, it plans to operate 136 special trains till January 20 as against 112 trains during the last Sankranti season. Major destinations from Hyderabad include Kakinada, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.

A senior official said now that the Sabarimalai season had almost come to an end, they were trying to add free coaches to be run to different places across the two States.

Accordingly, SCR has announced that it would run eight Sankranti specials to Kakinada Port from Secunderabad and Kacheguda with special fares.

They include two air-conditioned services on January 12 from Secunderabad and on Jan. 13 from here, via Guntur.

Enroute, they will stop at Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Piduguralla, Sattenapalli, Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Samalkot and Kakinada town.

Two Sankranti specials will leave Secunderabad on Jan. 15 and leave in the return direction on Jan. 16.

Enroute, they will stop at Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Piduguralla, Sattenapalli, Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot and Kakinada town.

Four AC Sankranti specials will run between Kacheguda and Kakinada Port. From here, they will depart on Jan. 10 and 13 and from Kakinada Port, they will leave on Jan. 11 and 14, a press release said.

Enroute, they will stop at Sitaphalmandi, Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Piduguralla, Sattenapalli, Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Samalkot and Kakinada town.
