Another round of pulse polio was launched in Telangana on Sunday with the target to administer vaccine drops to 41.52 lakh children in the 0 to 5 age group at 24,574 centres.

Hundreds of mobile teams also travelled through lanes and bylanes to track children on the move. In addition, the health authorities set up 900 centres at bus and railway stations and road junctions.

The programme was monitored by 55 senior officers at the State-level, 120 officers in districts, and 2,455 supervisors at the field level. As many as 733 mobile teams to monitor the programme were also constituted.

Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy and Principal Secretary of Medical and Health Rajeswar Tiwari administered the drops at a school at Film Nagar here. The programme was launched by Collectors in all 31 districts.

Children in the arms of parents at prominent temples, where large congregations were expected as it was a Sunday, were also approached by the health staff.
