26 crore new bank accounts opened

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya said people of the country have welcomed the demonetisation, taken up by the Central Government for the development of the country, in spite of facing several hardships during the initial months.

Participating as chief guest at the Digi Dhan Mela organized in the town on Wednesday, the Minister said that the Government was encouraging the digital financial transactions to check black money in the country.

Though, the Opposition parties had raised a hue and cry over the demonetisation, it was Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, who welcomed the decision with open heart, he reminded.

He said that the Government was taking all measures to encourage digital financial transactions by using bank accounts, Aadhar cards, smart phones etc. They had opened 26 crore new bank accounts after demonetisation in the country.

The Union Government was announcing cash prizes to the people, traders and others for encouraging digital transactions, he observed.

The Labour Department had conducted 1,700 camps in Telangana and opened 66,000 new bank accounts. Minister for Finance Etala Rajender, Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar, ZP Chairperson Tula Uma, legislators G. Kamalakar and Rasamayi Balakishan, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed and others were also present.
