Penalty for bulk waste generators

The Standing Committee of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has passed a resolution to collect user charges from those who generate more than 100 kg waste on a daily basis.

This was one of the 16 resolutions passed by the committee on Thursday. The resolution has been passed as per the Solid Waste Management Act and the charges have been fixed at Rs. 2.25 per kg.

The other resolutions include construction of a link road from Miyapur to Yallammabanda Road at a cost of Rs. 3 crore. Sanction of road widening works on Himayathnagar-Narayanguda stretch, at Darussalam and near Charminar were some of the other resolutions passed.
