Passport operations in Warangal soon

Passport operations will soon start at Warangal as the process of identifying land for the Post Office - Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) is in the final stages while another centre in the State will be identified soon for the Post Office PSK.

Hyderabad Regional Passport Officer (RPO) E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said the process is on and the new facility in the districts will help the passport seekers who are growing rapidly with the Central Government recognising passport as an economic empowerment document.

Assumes office

Across India 56 districts were identified to open Post Office PSKs and they include two in Telangana. Mr. Reddy, who assumed charge as the new RPO, spoke to reporters here on Tuesday and said tokens will be enhanced at the existing PSKs whenever necessary.

Applications have increased by over 30% ever since the application process was simplified, he said. He added that applications were likely to come down in RPO Hyderabad with Vishakapatnam RPO processing the applications of Andhra Pradesh.

OMC graduate

Mr. Reddy, who completed his MBBS from Osmania Medical College here later did his MD from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2008 and worked at the Indian Missions in Madrid and Geneva. At the Headquarters he worked in the Latin America and Caribbean Division.

As First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in Geneva, he covered India’s engagement with the World Health Organisation, Human Rights Council and International Labour Organisation.
