Why do city buses come in bunches, asks Mamatha (19), a first-year degree student? Very rarely do I get the choice of my bus within a few minutes, she says, speaking to this reporter at the busy Ameerpet bus stop.

“I can understand buses not coming during non-peak hours, but in peak hours supervisors tell us that the bus we want will come in five minutes but invariably takes much longer,” says this resident of Sangareddy who travels daily.

When asked, Priya, a married woman who works in a private company, says she has to wait for a long time for buses near Greenlands most evenings.
