The State government has decided to focus on the completion of the joint venture housing projects launched in association with private sector in different parts of the State, predominantly on the city periphery.

The Cabinet sub-committee headed by Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and comprising Ministers Etala Rajender and M. Mahender Reddy inspected the sites of projects taken up under the public-private partnership mode on Thursday. The committee members visited DLF venture in Gachibowli, a joint venture project launched in association with Madhucon in Kukatpally, and other areas.

The Ministers lamented that the ambitious projects were stopped due to various reasons and the Cabinet sub-committee would finalise its report relating to restarting works on these projects soon. The Cabinet panel, which met more than five times in the recent past, found that some projects were stopped midway while works on some others were not yet launched. The panel had decided to examine a request made by the private managements over extension of the deadline for their respective projects.

In all, the previous government had launched 19 projects involving the Housing Department and private sector in the PPP mode, but the delay in commencement of works on them had denied its revenue share to the government. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had constituted the Cabinet sub-committee to study the issue and recommend measures for the recommencement of works on them.

The Cabinet panel after visiting the project sites had asserted that its report incorporating necessary recommendations would be submitted to the government within a fortnight.
