Data migration to GST portal by January 15

The Commercial Taxes department has announced that data migration to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) portal is to be completed by January 15, 2017.

An official press release said all dealers, who had received provisional ID and password from the department were to submit enrolment applications at the portal www.gst.gov.in at the earliest. Dealers who had not been provided with provisional ID and password would get the same in the second phase, a release said.

All tax practitioners were asked to expedite the enrolment process on a priority basis in the interest of dealers and the State. Further, it was informed that best performers would be appreciated with a commendation certificate.

Another release said the registration process for GST was only a part of the migration to GST and that regular transactions would continue under the Value Added Tax Act till the Government announced the implementation of the GST Act.
