The Censor Board’s regional office finally certified the movie Sharanam Gachchami after denying it earlier, which led to its Kavadiguda office getting attacked by six students a few days ago. The Nampally police had posted a dozen policemen at the board’s Masab Tank office anticipating protests in case the movie was denied certification again.

Earlier, the Censor Board’s regional office at Kavadiguda was ransacked by six students of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC), who were later booked by the police.

Sharanam Gachchami , which is about the reservation system in India, reportedly mentions the suicide of University of Hyderabad (UoH) research scholar Rohith Vemula and also the flogging of Dalits in Una, Gujarat, recently.

About reservation

The movie, which is directed by E. Prem Raj, was not certified by the Censor Board in January. It tells the story of a university student who picks reservations as his Ph.D topic after his friend commits suicide over losing a government job to a lower-caste candidate.
