In a major reshuffle, the Telangana government has issued orders effecting transfer and posting of 65 superintending engineers and executive engineers of Public Health & Municipal Engineering Service and giving full additional charge in some cases.
The order issued by the Municipal Administration & Urban Development has kept GHMC Engineer-in-Chief, Dhan Singh in-charge of the post of GHMC Chief Engineer while transferring T. Anjaneyulu as Superintending Engineer of Nizamabad Municipal Corporation.
Those transferred include Ch. Mallikarjunudu, GHMC Superintending Engineer (QC), who has been directed to report before the Chief Engineer (Public Health) and R. Narender Rao, Executive Engineer given full additional charge of the post of SE (QC). D. Shiva Raj, Executive Engineer, has been given full additional charge as Deputy Engineer-in-Chief.
The GHMC Commissioner, Somesh Kumar, on Friday charged the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners of not taking required interest in preparing monsoon action plan, which could help them during emergencies. He also asked the Executive Engineers to give a declaration within three days stating that there were no potholes, missing manhole covers and unattended catch pits in their areas.
The monsoon teams should be provided with jeeps to attend to emergencies, but cars were hired and utilised by some officials, the Commissioner remarked at a meeting on Friday and added that an inquiry would be conducted in this regard and if found guilty, the money would be recovered from the officials concerned.
He also noted that works were not sanctioned under the corporator budget and said that the sanctioning process be completed in two days.
Mr. Somesh Kumar said Malkajgiri circle stood last in the assigned task of collecting telephone numbers of property owners. It could only collect 52 per cent of contact numbers as against the GHMC average of 63 per cent.
