5 kg opium seized, four arrested

Market value of contraband is ₹20 lakh

The city police on Friday busted a drug racket and nabbed four persons of a gang. Five kg of opium worth ₹20 lakh was recovered from their possession.

The accused were identified as Mohammed Masood Ahmed (39), Arif Khan (25), both residents of Tolichowki, Shaik Taj (33) of Banjara Hills, and Syed Hashim Hussain (42) from Rajendra Nagar here.

The Commissioner’s Task Force DCP P. Radha Kishan Rao said the four accused were nabbed from Tolichowki, Golconda, here, while trying to sell the drugs. They had priced the contraband at ₹4 lakh a kg.
